I first began writing about jazz as a teenager for
several local newspapers including New Review, The Scene, and The
Cleveland Press. Since then my writing on music has been appeared in
publications such as The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz, Percussive Notes,
and Jazz Magazine, while my letters to the editor on politics and
economics have been published in The New York Post and The New York
Times. (I also briefly worked as a copy editor for Prentice Hall.)
I currently have an interest in writing on a freelance basis on the
topics of politics and economics, jazz, and drumming. I can be contacted
at chuck@chuckbraman.com or
at my home phone number: (212) 989-5281.
The Life Experience link will take you to an essay
detailing my professional writing experience to date. (This will
probably only be of interest to potential employers.) The rest of the
site features samples of some of my more recent writing.
The Letters
to the Editor link will take you to a list of letters, on various
topics of current interest, that make concise arguments in favor of
individual rights, and political and economic freedom.
The Political Philosophy & Economy link will take you
to two essays summarizing the ideas and influence of the historical
antipodes of freedom and individual rights, John Locke (creator) and
Karl Marx (destroyer), an essay on Keynes, and a condensation of an
essay by economist George Reisman on the health care debate.
The Drummers
and Drumming link will take you to two interviews that I conducted
in 1995 with my favorite drummer, Paul Motian, originally published in
Percussive Notes and Percussioni Magazines, and two brief essays on
drumming, originally published in Percussive Notes and my book, Drumming Patterns. |
